Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis says he's happy to bide his time in the summer market.
Napoli had spent €37m this time last year and many felt De Laurentiis would get his cheque book out again on the back of a strong season in Serie A.
“I promise that I will also invest in football. The situation is simple: in cinema, I can't hire Tom Cruise to act in an Italian film if I can't cover the costs. For this reason, I say that we must change our movement.
“We should organise another kind of championship. If we want to go forward in a correct manner, we need to proceed like we are doing now with new scouts, unearthing talent across the world.
“Inter, Juve and Milan have made adjustments with regard to five years ago, but I won't change my mind: we must get Napoli to the highest level on the world stage.
“Mazzarri will be our added value. I wanted him for two years. He'll have time to verify the attitudes, the personality and stamina of each player. We have two months of try-outs.”
