Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis admits they wanted Internacional striker Leandro Damiao over the summer ahead of Gonzalo Higuain.

In the end, it was Higuain who arrived from Real Madrid.

"At the start we were talking to Damiao, but we were unable to come to an agreement with his agent," the movie mogul told Canale 21.

"As a result, we then decided to contact Real Madrid for Higuain and we immediately found an agreement."
