Napoli are chasing Dynamo Moscow defender Christopher Samba.
The former Blackburn Rovers captain is highly rated by Napoli coach Rafa Benitez, who tried to sign him for Chelsea last year.
Sportmediaset says Napoli aim to snap up Samba for a cut-price fee in January to boost their flagging defence.
Samba's deal with Dynamo expires in June and he is ready to leave Moscow in 2015.
Samba was banned for two matches by the Russian Football Union (RFU) last month for his middle-fingered response to racist abuse.
