Napoli have made contact with Ezequiel Lavezzi after he was cut from Argentina's World Cup squad.

Lavezzi's omission came as a shock to the midfielder.

Napoli chief Riccardo Bigon said: "I called him last night. He is disappointed, but is a professional and will now concentrate on having a great season with Napoli.

"He'll receive a personalised training schedule and will begin working by himself."
