Manchester United are ready to compete for Benfica defender Ezequiel Garay in January. The Daily Star says manager David Moyes faces stiff competition from Serie A side Napoli, with their coach Rafa Benitez understood to be a big admirer of the Argentina international.
Garay has a £17m release clause written into his contract, but neither Moyes nor Benitez are put off by the cost of the 27-year-old.
Moyes was thought to be willing to wait until the summer before reigniting a move, but the reports of Napoli's interest have seen the Scot prioritise a deal for the upcoming window.
