Napoli administrator Andrea Chiavelli has hit back at claims they should have points deducted over their involvement in the betting scandal.
Italian Football Federation prosecutors had asked for the Partenopei to be docked one point and Paolo Cannavaro and Gianluca Grava to be banned for nine months after they allegedly failed to report former goalkeeper Matteo Gianello for trying to fix a match against Sampdoria in 2010.
"The current incarnation of Napoli is only eight years old," Chiavelli told reporters. "And since then has based themselves on transparency and sound principles.
"The damage this could cause the club is great.
"We will be deprived of two members of the squad and suffer a points penalty whilst the season is still in progress."
