Napoli and Dries Mertens are edging closer to agreeing terms over a new contract.

Inside the final 18 months of his current deal, Mertens and Napoli have been thrashing out terms over a new contract since before Christmas.

The Belgium international's agents have informed Napoli he's now happy to accept a deal worth around €2 million-a-year.

And their proposal has pleased Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis, says Il Mattino.

Mertens has been linked with Manchester United and been offered to Barcelona in recent weeks.
