Steven Naismith believes Tom Cleverley's arrival will only strengthen the Everton squad.

25-year old midfielder Clverley will arrive at Goodison Park on July 1 once his contract with Manchester United expires and Scotland international Naismith is expecting him to make the competition even healthier for first-team spots.

"I think Tom Cleverley will be a very good addition to our squad," he said.

"I have said before that I see our midfield as one of the strongest parts of our team. Tom will bring much more competition for places.

"He showed at Villa last season that he is a consistent performer and is someone who, I am sure, will add something to our squad.

"I am looking forward to working with him next season."
