Naismith set for a few weeks on sidelines at Rangers

Rangers striker Steve Naismith will be out for at least a couple of weeks to get over his current hamstring problem.

The 24-year old was substituted for Kyle Lafferty at half-time of Sunday’s 3-0 league loss to Celtic and ‘Gers boss Walter Smith has confirmed the will need a few weeks to sort out the issue.

"He's had the injury for a few weeks now and I dare say now he will have to be out for a few weeks to clarify and rectify exactly what's wrong,” Smith said.

Naismith is likely to miss this week’s Europa League return leg against Sporting Lisbon in Portugal as well as the weekend’s league clash with St Johnstone and the fifth round Scottish Cup replay with Celtic next week. A trio of league clashes with Dundee United, St Mirren and Aberdeen may also be in danger for the Scotland international.
