Naismith: Everton can win Europa League

Steven Naismith believes Everton have enough quality to win the Europa League this season.

The Toffees take on Dynamo Kyiv at Goodison Park in the Round of 16 first leg on Thursday night and Scottish forward Naismith is eyeing a positive result.

Naismith is ware that 14th-placed Everton's Premier League form this season hasn't been crash hot but expects to rectify that with success in Europe.

"We believe we can go all the way to the final and win it," said Naismith. "But we are at the stage now where every team is a quality team.

"We know we need to be at our best and get a good result in the first leg.

"When you look at the points we have picked up, it obviously has had a detrimental effect. But as an ambitious club we want to be able to do both.

"There have been a lot of factors why we have not done well in the league. We have been unfortunate with injuries, we have not played as well as we can and one or two individual mistakes. I think it is not just one thing.

"We have had a lot more respect from teams, they adapt how they play and we have not adapted enough to that. That is something as players we want to improve in.

"The players understand where we are in the league and what needs to be done to get us higher up, but we have come this far in the Europa League and now we want to give it our best shot.

"The squad is strong enough to push on and deal with the demands. There is no reason to choose one competition or the other."
