New York Red Bull have a mystery Brazilian defender training with them.

Red Bull head coach Hans Backe confirmed the player was 26-year old central defender Clebao who is with the club because he has a connection with the Red Bull Academy in Brazil.

Clebao is not actually trialling with the Red Bulls but could play in the friendly against Juventus on May 23 and Backe said was impressive on the first of his 10-day stay.

"For the first session yesterday he's a strong guy, a good tackler, good header of the ball, understands the game, he's not the normal technical skill you see on the Brazilian players normally, but he's a central defender and he plays very easy, simple," Backe said. "So far so good I would say.

"He was brought to the Red Bull Academy in Brazil, but he's not training with the academy, he's playing I think for a second division team."
