Boaz Myhill has no problem playing second fiddle to West Bromwich Albion captain Scott Carson.
Former Hull City No1 Myhill is ready if called into action.
"All I do is come to work and prepare as best as I can," the California-born shot-stopper, who turns 28 next month, told the Sunday Mercury.
"I don't know how a game will go or where I'll be needed.
"I enjoy being here and the good thing about the Carling Cup is that I should be on the pitch.
"Everyone wants to play but I was made aware that I wouldn't play straight away.
"For me this is a challenge and one I'm tackling. Dean (Kiely) and Scott are great, Deano's sessions are very enjoyable and I have a good, healthy rivalry with Scott.
"It's good for me and the only thing missing is playing the in the league - but the manager knows I am here as an option."
