Mutu strike not enough for Fiorentina

Romanian star Adrian Mutu scored a wonder goal, but it wasn't enough to give Fiorentina a Champions League lifeline. The 11th minute volley gave the Tuscan club a valuable lead which they were able to maintain until conceding a late equaliser from the German champions.

Viola manager Cesare Prandelli was disappointed to let the valuable lead slip and now must set his sights on securing enough points to finish third in the group and qualify for the later stages of the UEFA Cup.

"The important thing is to step on to the field with this spirit and the desire to win. We have many young players in this competition for the first time and naturally there's bound to be a little fear, but after games like this they can see their limitations can be pushed and ambitions raised," Prandelli said after the match.
