Adrian Mutu insists new Juventus signing Felipe Melo was never an important member of Fiorentina's team last season.

The Romania striker explained: "Melo was here only one year and we reached the Champions League even without him. I trust the President, Melo was a great deal for the club, sometimes we must do these things.

"For four years we've had the same group of players, we must appreciate these ones rather than asking the club to bring others.

"We all want Fiorentina to compete for the Scudetto and the Champions League."
