Melbourne Victory captain Kevin Muscat has told his teammates to not worry about last night's 2-0 loss to Wellington Phoenix. The Victory were comprehensively brushed aside by the New Zealand club, ending a four-match winning streak, and denying them the chance to push toward the top four.
But Muscat, who was rested for the trip across the Tasman, said it was important to get on with the job at hand, which is preparing for arch rivals Adelaide United this Sunday.
"The result was disappointing, but I think the performance was even more disappointing,'' Muscat said today.
"The momentum before (the Wellington loss) was great, seven matches on the bounce without a loss.
"No doubt the boys will be hurting ... but we've got an important game here in Melbourne on Sunday afternoon, so there's not much time to sit around and dwell over it.
"We've got to pick ourselves up and prepare for an important game."
