Reading captain Graham Murty has warned teammates they're playing for their club futures ahead of the January market.
"It is time for us to say 'hold on Mr Manager, Mr Chairman, by the time the next window comes around we will be in such a good position you can turn round and say you don't need anyone again'.
"It is far too easy to cop out and say we need to strengthen, we need to spend money. It is time to knuckle down and prove him right.
"The character and personnel have not changed that much. It is a case of getting back to playing our way.
"We are still the same team as last season. We have a lot to prove. People wrote us off last season and are definitely doing that this season - and there is nothing better than coming back and proving everyone wrong."
