Murtosa confident of positive impact on Chelsea, English football

Chelsea assistant boss Flavio Teixera is confident he and manager Luiz Felipe Scolari can bring something new to English football.

Murtosa told chelseafc.com: "We already had quite a lot of knowledge of English football because we had quite a few players from the national team of Portugal playing in England and we are very pleased to come here and get to know better one of the best leagues in the world.

"There is a difference from players in Brazil but in the English game and in the English national team you have players with great quality. You ask coaches to vote for their 11best in the world and there are always English players there.:"

This Scolari confirmed in his first Chelsea press conference when he revealed he had voted for John Terry in the past in just such a poll.

Murtosa continues: "But yes, English players have the chance to get better and I believe that the mentality in the English game is changing because of the closeness they are having, playing with players from all over the world, especially players from South America."

Not to mention a new proximity to one of South America's longest-running coaching double acts.

"I am very happy to be here as part of Mr Scolari's backroom staff," is Murtosa's message to Chelsea supporters. "I hope we are going have the same success here that we have been having with other teams in other countries in the world."
