League leaders Brisbane Roar have received some bad news a few days out from their Week 17 A-League clash with Melbourne Victory.

Midfielder Massimo Murdocca will miss the trip after pulling up sore with a groin strain in what is a big blow for the competition's pacesetters.

"Massimo pulled up a bit sore after the game with a groin strain," Postecoglou said after training on Wednesday morning.

"This game, with only a four-day break, probably came a bit too quickly for him."

The Roar meet the Victory at AAMI Park on Friday - kick-off is at 8:00pm.
