Stoke City defender Marc Muniesa is desperate to find a place in Mark Hughes' starting XI.
Muniesa is determined to use his two-goal Capital One Cup salvo as a platform to force his way into Hughes's regular first-team plans.
"Yes, I'm desperate to play," he told The Sentinel.
"I always train looking to play every weekend, but I know I have to take my opportunities when I get them in the Capital One Cup or if I come on in the final few minutes as a substitute.
"I'm happy that I played well at Sunderland and I hope to play again soon.
"It's a decision for Mark Hughes, of course. Every player has to play well if they want an opportunity at the weekends.
"I think I played well, like the rest of the team, and we'll wait and see, but we have to keep going together."
