Atletico Madrid defender Lucas Hernandez is happy with his decision to commit to France.

Lucas also qualified for Spain, but chose to play for France before the World Cup.

The player's mother told Le Provence: "He does not regret it. It was his choice. He was not mistaken. Look at Spain. He did not hesitate because he is French.

"He plays in Spain where we lived for several years, but he always wanted to play for the French team. I left him free in his choice. He asked for my opinion, just like that of his brother, his dad, his representative ... We all told him to choose for himself.

"We cannot force him to go to a place, it's up to him to make his decision."
