New Manchester City signing Robinho didn't know where he was heading on Monday, admits Mum, Marina.

Marina de Souza said she thought her 24-year-old son was heading to London to play for Chelsea.

But the Brazilian stunned the football world - and his family - when he headed north for a British record of £32.5million.

Speaking from her home in Santos, near Sao Paolo, 47-year-old Marina told the Mirror: "I don't think that Robinho even knew what was happening.

"But if it is the best for him, then so be it. I just hope he is happy in England.

"We still don't know where he will live. Robinho's father and I are not going to go and live with him."
