Jan Vertonghen's mother claims her son is missing home — even though he signed a new deal with Tottenham earlier this month that could keep him at the club until 2020, reports the London Evening Standard.

Ria Mattheeuws told Belgian radio: "Jan is starting to miss home. I see him coming back soon — we will see. Home could also mean Amsterdam. His girlfriend is from there."

There is little chance of Spurs allowing Vertonghen, who turns 30 in April, to leave the club at any time in the near future, however.

Vertonghen also said recently how settled his family were in London.
