Fabrice Muamba says the controversy over Martin Taylor's tackle on Arsenal striker Eduardo da Silva has brought Birmingham City closer together.

Muamba, formerly of Arsenal, thinks the negative media that has been brought about by Taylor's tackle has only strengthened Blues' resolve to beat the drop.

"The togetherness of the team in the changing room is even stronger now," he told the Birmingham Mail. "There has been a lot made of the incident.

"It happened and - I was right behind it - it wasn't something he intended. He came back in yesterday and everyone was with him.

"All of us have supported him and we're even closer and more determined now because of what's gone on since the game."
