Muamba to commit to new Birmingham deal

Birmingham City are set to secure midfielder Fabrice Muamba to a new contract.

The Sunday Mirror says Muamba will have more talks with Alex McLeish this week over an improved contract offer.

The midfielder, 20, has been lined up by Bruce for a £5million move to Wigan after an impressive season. Former Birmingham boss Bruce signed Muamba from Arsenal on a permanent deal in the summer and was ready to bid at the end of this season.

But McLeish has moved to speed up negotiations, even though Muamba has two years left on his current deal.
