Manchester United's January plans won't end with today's stunning swoop for Chelsea midfielder Juan Mata. The Manchester Evening News says United manager David Moyes and chief executive Ed Woodward do not want their January spending to end with Mata.
That is why Moyes and his backroom staff have trawled Europe since the turn of the year to monitor a host of targets like Paul Pogba, Arturo Vidal, both of Juventus and Porto's Eliaquim Mangala.
While United hope Mata's arrival will have a galvanising effect on a desperately underperforming squad, they acknowledge the need to make several top class additions.
Ideally Moyes would like to bring in someone of Pogba's quality now - but he hopes his endeavours this month will pave the way to a successful summer in the transfer market.
