Moyes urges Everton fans not to expect too much too soon from Naismith

Everton boss David Moyes is eager for fans not to expect too much too soon from Steven Naismith.

While Naismith may have done his best to steal the limelight from testimonial man Tony Hibbert, his manager has urged supporters not to expect too much too soon from the former Rangers star.

"We took him off because we didn't want him to score any more," joked Moyes on evertonfc.com. "He had a great opening and he's a player who's got a goal in him, we know that. And hopefully when we get him right - because you've got to remember he's missed nine months of football and we're not rushing things with him - hopefully we'll see a few more goals from him.

"In the end I think he'll be a good Everton player. We'll just need to give him time. I don't want people to think it'll happen over night. I hope he does what he does but just like we've had to take time with people like Phil Jagielka and Leighton Baines in the past, I think we'll need to do the same with Steven Naismith."
