Former Everton boss David Moyes has set the record straight over John Stones' transfer fee.

Moyes signed Stones for Everton before leaving Goodison Park for Manchester United.

He told Sky Sports: "I laugh when people say that we paid £3 million for him.

"It was for £1.25 million.

"It was in January, and our last acquisition of the period. I had some scouts who said: 'You have to go to Barnsley and watch this kid'. So I did so."
