Moyes tells Man Utd captain Vidic he wants him to stay

Manchester United boss David Moyes hopes to convince Nemanja Vidic to sign a new contract. The Mirror says Moyes does not want to lose Vidic with Rio Ferdinand and Patrice Evra set to leave on frees and has told the club's hierarchy to make one last bid to keep him.

The United boss wants them to offer the defensive linchpin a 12-month extension on his current £90,000-a-week contract.

He feels Vidic's experience would be invaluable next season when he overhauls United.

However Moyes is likely to be disappointed and Vidic's agent Silvano Martina claimed last week that the Serbian international would not be signing a new deal.
