Moyes targets Vermaelen to boost Man Utd defence - and RvP morale

Manchester United boss David Moyes is eyeing Arsenal skipper Thomas Vermaelen. The Belgium international is unsettled at Arsenal after struggling to secure a regular start this season.

The Sun says Moyes has targeted Vermaelen to replace Nemanja Vidic, who will leave Manchester United for Inter Milan this summer.

Interestingly, Vermaelen shares the same agent as United striker Robin van Persie and the pair are good friends.

Those close to Van Persie suggest the arrival of Vermaelen would help fill the void for the Dutchman left by Rene Meulensteen last summer.
