David Moyes surprised Manchester United staff yesterday when turning up for work at Carrington.
The Daily Mail says he is not due to officially succeed Sir Alex Ferguson until July 1, but the new manager is clearly in no mood to stand on ceremony and Everton have given Moyes their blessing to get started.
Ferguson was there to greet him. So, too, were his first-team coach Rene Meulensteen and United's outgoing chief executive David Gill.
Quite a few were off yesterday and those who were there had not expected to see him so soon.
The 50-year-old was introduced to them all as he was given a personal guided tour of the complex by Ferguson before they spent an hour chatting in the manager's office.
