Moyes should have been given more time at Man Utd - Keane

Roy Keane believes Manchester United should have persisted with David Moyes as manager.

The Scottish tactician was relieved of his duties late in his debut season at Old Trafford last year but former skipper Keane feels his old club were too rash in sacking him.

Keane told the BBC that Moyes' successor, Louis van Gaal, should also be given more of a chance in charge of the Red Devils.

"Louis van Gaal's going to be criticised after the game, but you've got to give him a chance. It takes time, he's only been in the door five minutes," Keane said in the wake of the FA Cup quarter-final loss to Arsenal on Monday night.

"A lot of fans don't understand the game and how much of a challenge it is to run a club the size of Manchester United.

"They should've given David Moyes more time [last season], but they didn't."
