Everton boss David Moyes was delighted with their friendly win over DC United.
The manager said the display was a step-up from the game three days earlier against Philadelphia Union.
Moyes said in the post-match press conference: "I was quite pleased we got the result.
"I thought it was a good game. They had a few chances as well. The conditions played a part and all credit to both teams for making it as entertaining as they could.
"I think the opening goal gave us a bit of a lift because we didn't look like scoring (against Philadelphia).
"We had one or two moments and we maybe could have scored again. I'm much happier that we've got a goal or two."
