Moyes revives Man Utd pursuit of Benfica defender Garay

Manchester United boss David Moyes is reviving their interest in Benfica defender Ezequiel Garay. The Argentina international had expected to move to United in the summer before Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement put a hold on all major transfer activity at Old Trafford.

TMW says Nemanja Vidic's decision to reject a new contract offer from Moyes to commit to Inter Milan has forced the Scot to revisit the prospect of bringing Garay to England.

The former Real Madrid defender is in talks with AS Monaco, but would welcome the chance of moving to England after last season's marathon negotiations.

Garay admitted earlier this season: "I believed I was going to join Manchester United in the summer.

"The deal was nearly closed but finally Benfica did not accept the offer.

"I believe the exit of Ferguson has influenced the deal. Moyes did not believe in me as much but that's not a problem."
