Moyes reveals Weir has made big impact on Everton culture

Everton boss David Moyes is delighted with Sylvain Distin's application - and says the culture at the club has been inspired by David Weir.

Moyes explained the secret behind Distin's continuing good form - a complete dedication to staying at the top of his game.

"I think Sylvain would tell you he was shocked when he first came here by how it worked," he told evertonfc.com. "He was telling me he was going home every day and having to go to his bed.

“But if you see him now, he's in the gym every day, he's working and he's trying to maintain his level.

"I always look back at the likes of David Weir for example, who later on was working all the time and look how long he went on playing.

"I think it's a bit of fallacy that when you get older you take it easy and you do less. I actually think that you probably have to do more, albeit more at the right time and more of the right stuff.

“I think that's what Sylvain is doing at the moment."
