Sunderland look set to lose Younes Kaboul to Watford as he wants to be closer to his family home in London.
Black Cats boss Moyes admitted he reluctantly accepted the deal for Kaboul, as he wanted to give Papy Djilobodji more time before putting him in the first team.
However, the Senegal international will now be in line to make his debut in the Teesside derby against Middlesbrough at the Stadium of Light on Sunday.
"We got the replacement for Kaboul, which was Papy Djilobodji. I would have liked him to have got more time before we blood him, but he'll play," added Moyes.
