Everton boss David Moyes is proud of his work at Goodison Park.

Despite a lack of trophies, Moyes is proud of Everton's progress.

"I've been at Everton 11 years in March and the team have finished in the bottom half only twice," he told the Daily Mail.

"I remember [Kenny] Dalglish saying David Moyes's team is a bit yo-yo, one year good; one year bad. In fact, in the main if you said 10 years ago that Everton would finish in the top 10 every year bar two, I think people would have said, 'Hey that's some going for Everton because before they were always a team that usually finished in the bottom end'.

"I think the best thing is that I've helped stabilise Everton. If they were a club that appointed and sacked managers, they would probably be near the bottom end of the Premier League or maybe not even in the Premier League because it would have cost too much.

"I want to win things, I am desperate to win things. I don't think there is any manager who doesn't. But not everybody's got the tools, not everybody has the ability. I have the tools in as much as I'm at a club that have won things in the past … league championships, cups.

"So I have that history, but we don't have the finances to compete with the real big boys. Things have changed since Howard Kendall did magnificently to win the title twice in three years.

"The competition is much harder. Most people would say that Everton have done well in recent years without the trophies to show for it. I have tried to make some sort of progress every year. There are only a certain number of managers who get to spend big money. Most of us have a restricted budget so we're never able to buy really top players. I don't envy those who can because it's not my style.

"You have to work with what you've got. There are lots of good players I'd like but they're out of our reach."
