Manchester United boss David Moyes insists Javier Hernandez is part of his long-term plans.
Chicharito has been linked with a January move away.
But Moyes, speaking about Danny Welbeck, insisted: "We need him to do that because when you don't have Wayne and Robin, you need people to step up to the mark. In quite a few games recently he has done that for us.
"He can press Wayne and Robin to start regularly but I don't think at Manchester United you have only two players to do the jobs. You've got to have more. Javier Hernandez is part of that; he is a great goalscorer too."
