Moyes insistent Everton not selling Rodwell

Everton boss David Moyes is dismissive of reports that the Merseysiders have agreed a deal to sell midfielder Jack Rodwell to Manchester United. Reports last weekend claimed the 20-year-old would be heading to Old Trafford in the summer.

"I don't know where all the talk has come from of a deal being done with Manchester United because that is a load of rubbish, a complete untruth," he said.

"It is definitely not the case so if anyone wants to come in and disprove me they should do so.

"Stop telling people the wrong things in the media. The media have a responsibility to tell people the facts.

"There has been no contact and we want to keep him at the club for a long time and I have no reason to suggest anything else.

"We have let two players go in my time in Wayne Rooney (to United) and Joleon Lescott (to Manchester City) who I couldn't keep hold of.

"Steven Pienaar (transferred to Tottenham in January) was coming out of contract and we got an offer, otherwise we wouldn't have let him go.

"All the other ones in the time I have been here we have felt it was the right time for them to go. We will only let people go if we think it is the right thing to do."
