Manchester United boss David Moyes is taking a close look at Porto defender Eliaquim Mangala.
The Sunday Express says Moyes has sent trusted scout Robbie Cooke to watch the 23-year old defender, also wanted by neighbours Manchester City, who tried to sign both Mangala and his team-mate Fernando during the January transfer window.
Moyes is committed to bringing in a powerful centre-back to replace skipper Nemanja Vidic, who is joining Inter Milan in the summer, and Rio Ferdinand, also expected to leave at the end of the season.
