Everton boss David Moyes says his side's performance merited at least a point as they were beaten 1-0 by Premier League champions Manchester United at Goodison Park. "I think we were unlucky not to get at least a draw, I thought we played well and Manchester United had very few attempts especially in the second half," Moyes told the club's official website.
"It was just maybe that little bit of quality in the final third that we didn't have.
"I thought we played well and I thought we deserved to get something out of the game.
"We've gone toe-to-toe in Chelsea in midweek and we were unlucky not to go through and I think the same today."
Former Everton player Wayne Rooney was used as a midfielder, which surprised Moyes.
"They came here last year and played with three in midfield and one up and people coming in off the sides.
"I think the surprise was Wayne playing in midfield as one of the three midfield players with Park and Welbeck out wide.
"It caused us problems in the first half when we struggled to get to them and it was around that period they got the goal.
"But apart from that we did a good job, we started brightly and finished the first half brightly and in the second half we kept going but we were maybe a bit short."
