New Manchester United boss David Moyes insisted United's Community Shield triumph was down to previous incumbent Sir Alex Ferguson. The Scot watched his team defeat Wigan 2-0 at Wembley, but heaped praise on his predecessor after the game.

"I class that as another piece of silverware for Sir Alex. It was his team that won the Premier League last season and his team that won today, I was just in charge of them.

"I owe Sir Alex a massive thank you for getting me into this position."
