David Moyes' hardline approach upset the egos of Manchester United players during his ten months in charge. The sacked manager expected a squad of multiple title-winners to be able to handle his brutally honest approach, says the Manchester Evening News.
Instead, rumours of training ground rifts gathered momentum during an ever-worsening campaign - before the abject performance in the 2-0 defeat to Everton ultimately cost him his job.
"He is aggressive on a benign day," a close source told the Manchester Evening News. "He's a very assertive character. If he thinks you're not performing, he doesn't hide it.
"At Everton he had strong characters. Phil Jagielka didn't need an arm around the shoulder.
"He wants people who can take criticism. If you're a bit more sensitive, he doesn't care."
