West Brom boss Tony Mowbray has warned fans not to expect massive spending this summer.
"The more you push the boat out, the more you leave yourself vulnerable to huge debts, huge salary levels and no one wanting players who are on £40,000 a week. You are stuck with them for four years. It is my job to turn our Championship players into Premier League players."
Mowbray may be spending less than most Premier League sides to sign players this summer but insists he is comfortable working with what he has.
"My chairman at Hibernian used to say to me, 'you keep sprinkling that magic dust over the team. While Mr Peace doesn't say that to me, that's what he wants me to do. We might spend £8m-£10m in the summer, who knows? Let's see how it goes.
"I might want a player who is valued by his club at £3m yet I only value him at £1m. Then we have a dilemma - do we pay over the odds or not? We need players, so it is an issue."
