Middlesbrough boss Tony Mowbray is remaining patient as he attempts to find a striker to bolster the club's Premiership promotion push.
He told the club's official website:
"It's very, very rare a deal gets done on day one of the transfer window unless it's been set up in advance.
"We are trying hard and asking questions of clubs, and we have got a few targets. The chairman and chief operating officer are working hard behind the scenes. We are looking and asking questions.
"We have been talking to quite a number of clubs about their players. The wheels are turning and hopefully, we are closer. Let's see what comes out in the next week or two." "Generally, the more people selling clubs get interested in a footballer, the better it is for them.
