Jose Mourinho has revealed he will quit his post as Chelsea manager if he loses the trust of his players.
There is plenty of speculation surrounding the Portuguese tactician's rein at Stamford Bridge following their 3-1 home loss to Southampton on Saturday which left the reigning Premier League champions sitting 16th on the table.
Mourinho told the press straight after the game that he would not resign from his role but has since said that he would consider that as an option if his playing group no longer had trust in him.
"People can say what they want. People should ask the players and not go with fake sources," said Mourinho.
"Go straight to the players. If they tell you they don't trust me, that is the only thing that can make me resign."
Chelsea have won just two of their opening eight league fixtures to sit on eight points, just four above the relegation zone.
