Mourinho: We all lie when it comes to transfer business

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has been pursuing unsettled Manchester striker Wayne Rooney all summer and admitted, like all managers, he was deliberately negative when it came to the possibility of new signings. Is he hopeful of signing Wayne Rooney: "No. I'm just a Chelsea manager, everyone of us is looking always to try to strengthen your squad.

"We say no but we lie because until the last day we're all waiting for something to happen, even when we say we're happy with our squad we lie because we always want to make it happen.

"We'll see what happens not just with us but with Manchester United as well. I'm enjoying working with these young people, some of their first steps in the Premier League and I'm enjoying this process of formation with a different profile to my previous years here."

"It's my favourite competition and I can say that because I had experiences in three countries and this is my favourite competition and country to work in.

"When I have this passion for this football country, I'm in my natural habitat and I want to be someone that's connected with this country, not being British.

"I have to work for Chelsea but at the same time I'm working for English football. I want to give my best and I'm better than ever because we are not like players who change negatively with age some times."
