Jose Mourinho has reportedly called a meeting with Phil Jones regarding the player's future at Manchester United.

According to Goal, the Portuguese has requested a sit-down with the defender in order to clear up exactly where he fits in at Old Trafford.

Jones, 24, struggled to force his way into Louis van Gaal's first team last season after returning from injury and his opportunities in 2016/17 could also be diminished following the £30million signing of Eric Bailly.

It is understood that Mourinho has plans for Jones, due to his versatility, but wants to discuss any options with the player himself whose career has stalled since arriving at Old Trafford from Blackburn Rovers in 2011.
