Mourinho thrilled with Chelsea debut of Pedro

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho was delighted with the debut of Pedro Rodriguez on Sunday.

The Spanish forward opened his English account with the opening goal as the reigning champions recorded their first win of the 2015/16 season with a 3-2 result over West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns.

The £21million signing from Barcelona received the ball from Eden Hazard on the edge of the area before his effort deflected in off Gareth McAuley to give the Blues a 20th-minute lead in an entertaining affair in the West Midlands.

Mourino spoke highly of Pedro after the match and suggested the 28-year-old Spain international could adjust quickly to life in England after getting off the mark so early.

"He's a very good player, there is always a question mark because how many top players come to England and don't perform immediately," he said.

"People ask if he is the right player, can he adapt? We have examples in our club and there are lots of examples in other clubs, it's very nice for him to perform the way he did."

Diego Costa added to Pedro's opener with a goal on the half-hour mark before James Morrison pulled one back for the Baggies ten minutes before the break. Cesar Azpilicueta then edged Chelsea further ahead in the 42nd minute prior to Blues skipper John Terry being sent off for bringing down Jose Salomon Rondon in the 54th minute before Morrison grabbed a second just before the hour-mark as chelsea got the ball rolling on their title defence.
