Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has already spoken with club chiefs about a new deal for John Terry.
The People says Mourinho has been so impressed with Terry's contribution that he has spoken to the board about giving the captain a new one-year deal for next season - and the response was positive.
Although Terry is desperate to stay at Chelsea - his only club - he would be free to speak to foreign sides this January and a lucrative move to the Middle East or Major League Soccer would have been the most likely result.
