Mourinho seeks extending Man Utd transfer budget as record spend planned

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is set to go to vice-chairman Ed Woodward to extend their summer transfer budget.

The Manchester Evening News says Mourinho will need help stretching his budget this summer.

The United manager has already committed the best part of £70m on Fred and Diogo Dalot - but is a long way off completing his transfer business. He wants a world class centre-back, another midfielder and a versatile forward.

Should he secure all three, he could comfortably treble United's spend in this window, with targets like Toby Alderweireld (Tottenham), Sergej Milinkovic-Savic (Lazio) and Gareth Bale (Real Madrid) commanding massive price tags.

Mourinho's decision to shelves plans to sign a left-back is in no small part down to his extensive rebuilding plans.
